LThe “coronavirus children”: this is what this generation has been called, having had to deal with school closures and restricted contact for months. While not all of these young people have lost loved ones, they have at least felt a deep sense of helplessness. At the time, many experts had already predicted that these events would leave a mark on their psyche. And indeed: while mental illnesses were already on the rise among young people before the pandemic, some of these illnesses have seen a greater increase in certain age groups during the coronavirus years. For example, eating disorders have exploded among girls as young as 10, while cases of depression have been observed in more and more girls as young as 14.
