On September 29, 2024, an elderly couple died of carbon monoxide poisoning in , probably due to a faulty boiler. Their neighbors had experienced symptoms two days earlier and thought it was an infection.

The five other tenants of the building had to be hospitalized. During the night from Sunday to Monday, a couple in their nineties died from carbon monoxide inhalation near station, reports The Parisian. Neighbors had experienced symptoms, but the cause of their ailments was identified too late.

“I thought I had Covid”

“We remained on oxygen, we had several blood tests and when everything was good, we were given permission to return home”says a tenant.

She was a victim “huge headaches and dizziness” Also intoxicated, she first thought she had Covid: “I even made an appointment for this Monday to get tested.”

Boiler problem

According to initial findings, the carbon monoxide leak is attributed to a boiler problem, repaired last week. An investigation is open.
