Brussels launches its double vaccination campaign against flu and Covid-19

As autumn approaches, the Brussels Region is calling on its residents to prepare themselves against the flu and Covid-19. Whether at your doctor’s, in certain pharmacies or at home, vaccination against the coronavirus is already available, while that against the flu will begin on 15 October, Vivalis, the administration responsible for health and assistance to people in Brussels, announced on Monday.

The aim is to extend vaccination coverage to protect vulnerable people during the colder months, when respiratory infections are more common. It is also to relieve the health care system, which is more stressed in winter.

As a reminder, it is possible to protect yourself against both conditions simultaneously. The recommended period then runs from October 15 to November 1. Citizens can contact their doctor or pharmacist to benefit from a double vaccination.

The Higher Health Council also recommends that pregnant women protect themselves against the flu, while the Covid-19 vaccine is only recommended in cases of increased risk and on medical advice.

The serum against coronavirus is free. The one against flu costs 17.42 euros, except for people over 49 and risk groups. Largely reimbursed, its price then varies for the latter between 2.45 and 4.08 euros.
