Opponent Seth Kikuni heard and transferred to the Gombe Court of Appeal

In the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Seth Kikuni was arrested by the Intelligence Services more than ten days ago. Since then, his family has been unable to locate him and had no news until this Friday, September 13, 2024.

In the presence of his lawyer, Seth Kikuni was questioned at the public prosecutor’s office near the Gombe Court of Appeal, where he was transferred on the evening of Friday, September 13, said Me Ramazani Shabani. Contacted by RFI, the lawyer requested his release and specified that Seth Kikuni was questioned for facts of ” incitement to civil disobedience » and of « spreading false noises ».

« First of all, I found him very weak, both physically and mentally. I was not able to talk to him for long. I assisted him during his interrogation. It is difficult to imagine someone who has been deprived of medication, deprived of food and deprived of his family for more than twelve days. It’s still unacceptable, it’s difficult to understand and imagine that he can be okay. ” explains Mr. Shabani.

« He is accused of spreading false rumors and inciting civil disobedience, made for which he was sequestered for practically more than twelve days in the ANR jails [Agence nationale de renseignement]. This evening (Friday, September 13), he was transferred to the public prosecutor’s office where he was questioned. We took the opportunity to request provisional release “, he concludes.
