Cyril Hanouna has not finished making headlines. The host of the show “Touche pas à mon poste!” (“TPMP”) announced on Monday, September 2, his intention to file a complaint against the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority (Arcom), which he accuses of “harassment.” The cause is the various sanctions imposed on C8, owned by the Canal+ group and which broadcasts “TPMP,” with the recent decision of the authority not to renew the DTT frequency granted to the channel from 2025.

“TPMP”, which surfs above all on provocation and buzz, has long been under the close surveillance of Arcom. It must be said that the show has multiplied the slip-ups since its creation. In total, the channels of the Vincent Bolloré group, of which C8 is a part, had received “at least forty-seven warnings, formal notices and fines” from the audiovisual regulator since 2012, “including eleven since the beginning of 2024”, lists the daily newspaper Le Monde.

At the top of the list are Cyril Hanouna’s shows, which were sanctioned for broadcasting insulting remarks (notably against the underage daughter of Laeticia and Johnny Hallyday, LFI MP Louis Boyard and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo), clandestine advertising, but also false information and conspiracy content (celebrities were for example accused on air of drinking children’s blood to stay young). Result: C8 has accumulated 7.6 million euros in fines issued by Arcom.

Feeling personally targeted, the host and producer announced that he had put together a thirty-five-page file to support his harassment complaint. But can he really take Arcom to court?
