Crown Prince Leka and his partner Blerta appear together for the first time during a very symbolic official engagement

Crown Prince Leka of Albania marked the 105th anniversary of the Congress of Lushnjë, by visiting the museum dedicated to this historical event of great importance in Albania. The head of the royal family chose this highly symbolic outing to appear for the very first time hand in hand with his partner Blerta.

Prince Leka and Blerta hand in hand to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the Lushnjë Congress

In September 2024, Crown Prince Leka of Albania, grandson of King Zog I, attended a charity dinner in New Jersey. The head of the royal family had chosen this private event to present his companion, Blerta Celibashi, for the first time. Prince Leka found love again, some time after his highly publicized divorce from the mother of his daughter was made official in April 2024.

On January 21, 2025, Crown Prince Leka visited the National Congress Museum in Lushnjë, as part of the 105th anniversary of this event which marked the history of Albania. Prince Leka participated in this important engagement accompanied by Blerta. This is the first time that the young woman has accompanied the prince during a public engagement. The couple arrived holding hands and Blerta was very interested throughout the visit.

Following the First World War, between January 20 and February 9, 1920, Albanian deputies met in Lushnjë, while the country was occupied by various foreign powers. For three weeks, the deputies worked to establish a state structure which would make it possible to maintain national sovereignty at least temporarily.

From this congress a High Council and a National Council were formed. The High Council is the equivalent of a provisional government while the National Council is a kind of parliament. At the beginning of liberated Albania, Ahmet Zogu was appointed Minister of the Interior because of his military achievements. He became Prime Minister in 1922 then President of the Republic in 1925. In September 1928, the Albanian constitution was modified to become a kingdom and Ahmet Zogu became King Zog I. “This anniversary of the Lushnjë Congress reminds us of the importance of unity and resistance for the future of a better, stronger and more prosperous Albania”said Crown Prince Leka.

Participation in the Freedom Party assembly

After this event celebrating the anniversary of the Lushnjë Congress, Prince Leka also participated in the 21st assembly of the Legality Party, at the invitation of Chpetim Axhami, president of this party.

The Legality Party is an Albanian monarchist party. Prince Leka gave a speech at the assembly. In this speech, he recalled the 19th anniversary of the death of the President of Kosovo, Ibrahim Rugova, “a leader who remains an example of admiration and inspiration for all Albanians, for his vision, his determination in the national cause and standard bearer of the struggle for the eradication of communism from Albanian lands”declared the grandson of King Zog I.
