While she plays Bérénice, a mediator specializing in restorative justice in the new My faultMélissa Désormeaux-Poulin also lends her features, in Cerebrumto Jacqueline Laurent, a criminal lawyer and serial killer. The actress talks to us about these very different roles.

When she filmed the third and final season of Cerebrumalmost a year ago, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin did not know that the series would be broadcast this winter on -, at the same time as My faultof which she is the headliner. Nevertheless, the actress, who can be followed twice rather than once on television, says she is blessed to be able to bring such beautiful characters to life. “These roles took me out of my comfort zone. Bérénice and Jacqueline, who is nicknamed Jackie, are two completely opposite women who do not operate in the same world at all. In the future, I hope to continue to land such great roles.”
The actress plans to keep busy in 2025. “There are some great things coming up for me, which I can’t talk about yet. In the meantime, I’m crossing my fingers that My fault have a second season.” It also leaves the door open for a third season of the spy series Classified secretthe first two of which are available on illico+.
A mysterious woman
In My faultMélissa Désormeaux-Poulin plunges, in the guise of Bérénice, into the world of restorative justice, a form of justice which offers aggressors and victims the opportunity to begin a process of peace and forgiveness. “Bérénice is a free woman. She is trying to rebuild herself following a tragedy that she and her friends experienced 25 years ago. That day, her friend Vania (Lou Thompson) was killed and her friend Rémi (Dany Boudreault) became quadriplegic. Through the bonds she maintains with others, Bérénice attempts to repair herself.”
In addition, we will discover over the 12 episodes of this first season of My fault that Bérénice maintains a very special relationship with David Fraser (Maxim Gaudette), responsible for the incident that occurred in 1999. “Bérénice believes that if she can “repair” David and forgive him, she will be able to live a better life. We will thus realize that she is hiding many things. Her relationship with Vania’s murderer will also contribute to driving a wedge between her and her friends.”

An outstanding accomplice
In this adventure, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin is excited to play opposite Maxim Gaudette. The two actors had the opportunity to play together several years ago in the series The survivors. They also played twins in search of their origins in the famous film Firesof Denis Villeneuvein 2010. “What a joy it was for me to find Maxim! I see him as my brother. It’s easy to play with him. In addition, he is very generous and talented. I was also happy to find in My fault Jessica Barker, who plays the role of Marie-Dominique, with whom I hadn’t played for a long time. There was really a nice family atmosphere on this set, led by the director Miriam Bouchard.»
Studies above all
Mother of actresses Lea et Florence Pilotteaged 18 and 11, Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin is very proud of her daughters. “They are doing great! We recently went to Florida to spend some time with family. Currently, Florence is busy at school. For her part, Léa has been in residence in Montreal since the fall, where she is studying at CEGEP. She comes home on weekends. For the moment, we manage their acting careers with a certain distance, because it is important for us, their parents, that they continue their studies,” she concludes.
