He is among the geniuses, whose work is so important that he was believed to be immortal. Filmmaker David Lynch has left usat the age of 78. Close to our national Mylène Farmer, in France, he had also worked with Marion Cotillard.
Indeed, the director of the cult series “Twin Peaks”was a multi-talented artist. For the first, singer, he made music. But for the second, actress, he did publicity.
David Lynch is dead
It was in 2010, two years after his Oscar in Hollywood, and the start of his international career. At the time, Marion Cotillard, who had become the face of Dior (and not yet the face of Chanel), had filmed a third advertising sport for the brand.
The first two were The Lady Noire Affair directed by Olivier Dahan, then Lady Rouge by Jonas Åkerlund following the series of photos by Annie Leibovitz. Arrives ensuite Lady Blue Shanghai. This 16-minute short film was written, directed and edited by David Lynch.
The latter had previously collaborated with Gucci, Calvin Klein and Yves Saint-Laurent. But by filming Marion Cotillard and her mysterious Lady Dior handbag in his hotel room in Shanghai, he had a flash.
In the columns of the Financial Times, David Lunch then explained about the French actress: “It has this modern quality and this old quality that the greats always had, I think.”

In fact, on January 16, 2025, upon learning of her disappearance, Marion Cotillard felt a heartbreak. “Oh I’m so sad” she explained on her Instagram account. And added: “I am so grateful that our paths crossed and I had the great chance to be filmed by you“.
Publishing two photos, witness to their collaboration, Marion Cotillard confessed: “Being near you was like being connected to such a deep place of heart and soul”.
This is not the only time Marion Cotillard crossed paths with David Lynch. Indeed, in our photos, the star also crossed paths with her genius, in 2012, in New York. In memory of these beautiful years, she concluded, respectfully: “I wish you a wonderful trip David”.
