on the set of 300, everyone ended up in the hospital at least once

In full promotion for the film Criminal Squad: PanteraGerard Butler released some files on the film which revealed it to the general public: 300. Released in 2006, Zack Snyder’s feature film is a bloody epic based on the comic book by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley, which made noise at the time for its very marked artistic direction and its spectacular battle scenes. A particularly intense shoot for the actors and its headliner Gerard Butler in the role of the Spartan king Leonidas, some of whom did not emerge unscathed.

Indeed, among his troop of 300 soldiers, which included extras and actors Dominic West, Michael Fassbender and David Wenham, several ended up in hospital because of the very physical stunt sequences, as Gerard Butler confided in the columns of People :

“I remember someone ending up in the hospital almost every day. We were there, running around and fighting and you saw a guy next to you who had taken a spear to the eye. Sometimes you would also come across another guy on the ground who had sprained his ankle when he fell. Frankly, it was a bit nonsense.”

Gerard Butler, who is clearly used to heavy-handed Hollywood films, tells other anecdotes about his career that are both creepy and juicy during the interview. We learn, for example, that he almost drowned on the set of Chasing Maverickswhere he plays a Californian surfer. His playing partners have also suffered from his bad star, as on the set of Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, the Cradle of Lifewhere he almost shot Angelina Jolie… in the head.
