“There was something a little Parisian”

This Monday, January 13, the Association des Victoires unveiled the list of nominations with Santa in the lead with four chances of winning, and the potential double for Pierre Garnier. To talk about it, the Europe 1 program “Culture Médias” received Vincent Frèrebeau, the president of Victoires. At the microphone of Thomas Isle, the latter welcomed the evolution that the ceremony has undergone over the years, even if it has sometimes been criticized as being too “snob”. “ For me, what was important was that there was no exclusion. And in fact, there was something a little Parisian, a little of the order of oneself like that in the Victoires, and that’s why we changed the rules and ‘we made sure that there was a second round with a voting jury, made up of people who were some fans of rap, others of pop, others of songs, rock, electro … » detailed the president of the ceremony to defend himself: “ As a result, we have better representation and there is no exclusion of a project that would be too varied, too this, too that. If it exists, it has its place in the Victoires ».

The president concedes that there was previously “ an exclusion of certain styles » like the rap: “ It’s complicated to make a program for people who watch on Friday evening and those who listen to rap, they’re not the same! But at the same time, it’s exercise. Too bad, if there are a little less audience… » explained Vincent Frèrebeau, still emphasizing the impact of the ceremony on the careers of artists. In 2024 for example, it is Zaho of Sagazan, revealed by the hit and the album “La symphonie des éclairs”, who had won everything by leaving with his arms loaded with five trophies. A triumph which gave a huge boost to his career. “ What happened with Zaho Last year was the best victory ever. It’s a career, a life that changes between before and after Les Victoires. […] After the Victoires, there was an artist that everyone knew, who suddenly exploded and began to tour endlessly. (…) The number 1 function of Victories is to reveal. » he explained on Europe 1.
