France: Melanight sues the M6 ​​group

Former reality TV candidate Melanight announced Tuesday, Parisian, that she had launched proceedings for “economic parasitism” against the M6 ​​group. According to the 30-year-old Frenchwoman, a show concept was stolen from her.

Mélanie Amar, her real name, explained that in July 2023 she presented an idea for a show to a manager of M6 et W9. Called “La Pire Classe”, his project was intended to be “an educational competition against school dropouts”. She wanted influencers to participate. “They told me: ‘OK, the project is great,’” said the woman who made her dream come true by doing theater. She then launched into the production of her show, but without an employment contract. Four months later, the decision had changed. “I was told that my project was great, but that M6 did not want to address this theme,” she recalled.

Melanight was amazed when she discovered “The Cerveau” a few months later, the show – broadcast since December 9, 2024 on W9 – sees reality TV candidates compete in logic, general knowledge and memory tests. “They put a little more budget into it, but basically everything is the same,” she noted.

After attempting amicable discussions, she took legal action. She is now claiming nearly 1.3 million euros for loss of profits and damages. “It was my chance to do something else and it was taken away from me,” she said.
