Currently running in with her second solo show, comedian Mélanie Couture confided to Marie-Claude Barrette that she experienced rather difficult times upon the release of her first opus and that she was hot before the release of her second.
On to the podcast Open your gamethe comedian, who launched his first show, 100% Couturejust a few weeks before the first confinement imposed by COVID-19, confided to the host that she felt the effects of the pandemic quite strongly, reaching its physical and psychological limits.
“The pandemic hit me very hard. I dreamed for a very long time of having a first one-woman-show and it was a very long time before I got it. […] At the end of 2019, I launched my first show. In December, my butt was Everyone is talking about itwhich is the holy grail for comedians, to talk about it. Ticket sales exploded. Then in March, everything stopped…” she said into Marie-Claude Barrette’s microphone, still shaken by the situation.

“This dream, for which I worked so hard, in a world where merit does not go to effort, ended with the snap of a finger. […] It’s a big part of a comedian’s career, his first show. It meant that I could no longer hold on to business for fun. I always had the impression of not having succeeded,” she confided, adding that through this difficult ordeal she had to take care of her 5-year-old son, confined at home.
“I was a zombie,” she continued, stressing that she was able to get back on her feet thanks to the psychological support of a professional and by completing, little by little, simple tasks that she knew she could succeed in. .
When the theaters reopened, the comedian finally resumed his tour, in front of masked people and half-full rooms, due to the health measures imposed by public health.

His second show, entitled It changes everythingwhose run-in will continue until the end of March, was also almost overshadowed by an unfortunate situation beyond its control.
Just a few days before announcing his new tour, the comedian and his team were once again plunged into uncertainty, this time due to the announcement of the bankruptcy of the Just for Laughs Group which produced his show.
Luckily, the Pomme Grenade company quickly approached the comedian to take over his project and help him bring it to fruition.

“I think I have more chemistry with the new team than I did with the old one. […] I joined this group which struggles like me, I struggle,” she told Marie-Claude Barrette.
