Fooled by Julie Bélanger
“We filmed the show in May. At that time, Julie Bélanger told me how much she was dying to do Masked singers. She moaned and complained all day that she still hadn’t been asked to participate in the show, only to finally reveal to me, just a few weeks later, that it was her in the Betty Beth costume. I felt cheated by Julie Bélanger,” the host told the QMI Agency, laughing.
“I’ve known her for a long time. We worked in radio together for a long time and I believed her so much. It made me laugh,” he continued.

“I like it when guests surprise me. This is also what I remember from this show: the meetings. We spend between 12 and 14 hours with the guests and we really do four restaurants in the same day, he said. We spend a lot of time together, it creates bonds and an interview setting that is less formal. It allows us to explore subjects that people would not have tackled otherwise,” added Sébastien Benoit, confiding that he particularly enjoyed his meeting with the actress Mylène Mackay.
“I suspected she had a taste for gastronomy. Her parents are among the first organic farmers in Quebec, her boyfriend is a chef, her brothers and sisters are also in the hotel industry. I wanted to go meet him and it was really one of the great encounters of this season,” said the host.
Light on restaurateurs
After 11 seasons frequenting the best addresses in the metropolis and throughout Quebec, Sébastien Benoit still has the same pleasure in discovering and meeting new restaurants, restaurateurs and types of cuisine.
“This show is not only a meeting with an artist, but it is also the discovery of people,” he said.
“I’m happy that the show still exists and that it allows us to shine a light on restaurateurs who don’t always have it easy, with the price of food constantly increasing and the workforce that is hard to have and remember. When I come back to restaurants where I have already been and people tell me that they are there because of Food shotsit’s the business that makes me the happiest,” he added.
The 11e season of Food shots will be presented from January 10, at 10 p.m., on Zeste.
Sébastien Benoit will also be hosting, with Véronic DiCaire and Gregory Charles, from the 36e gala edition Celebrationon January 12, at 7 p.m., on TVA.
