“The more I practice this profession, the more I find it makes you tolerant.”

« We’re going to have fun first!” With this introductory line, at the moment when we were reminded of the need to respect the deadline, Eye Haïdara immediately won over the six readers of “Sud Ouest” – who came to meet her on Thursday, September 12 in the lounge of Bar André – right from the start. Of course, she has a tight schedule, but there’s no question of spending the hour with her eye on the clock. They came to listen to her and she’s the one asking the questions. The informality creeps into the conversation. The exchange leaves Lydie Coudret charmed: “She’s just as I imagined: natural and caring.”

The actress, discovered in “Le Sens de la fête” and who will be seen again on November 6 in the cinema in a romantic comedy (“À toute allure” with Pio Marmaï), was in La Rochelle to defend the mini-series “Frotter baiser” (France Télévisions) directly inspired by the strike of the chambermaids of the Ibis Batignolles hotel between 2019 and 2021.

Like Rachel Kéké, Nupes MP in the last legislature, Eye Haïdara plays a governess who is propelled to the role of spokesperson for the movement, a leader in spite of herself – but with natural charisma – of a fight that sees David face Goliath. The inequalities addressed are social, racial, the feminist fight. So many reasons that convinced the actress to follow the director Marion Vernoux to Lille where the filming took place. “The choice of films is secretly a commitment,” she defends. The commitment is, in this case, total. It can sometimes pursue her. She does not hide the fact that the role of Inès in the series “En thérapie”, a lawyer questioning her desire for a child, has not yet completely left her.

Eye Haïdara focuses on roles that allow her to “say something”. Should we therefore be surprised to know that she is in Mélisa Godet’s new film, “La Maison des femmes”, inspired by the eponymous structure in Saint-Denis that supports victims of violence.

Committed

Eye Haïdara says she considered many careers when she was young. In the social sector in particular: family judge, teacher for autistic children, etc. She turns to Nathalie Aguillon, a retired police officer: “I wanted to do like you too! I must have watched ”Julie Lescaut”, I wanted to solve investigations. ”You’ll see, with me, it’ll go well””, she jokes.

As an actress, it came to her late in life. “I thought for a long time that it was a hobby, not a job.” She discovered that it allowed her to be close to people. Facing her surprised audience, she explained: “You have to observe them a lot. The more I practice this job, the more I find that it makes you tolerant. If you want to defend a character, you have to understand them, you have to love them.” When she was little, when she was brooding over someone, she used to hear her father tell her: “Even if you don’t like them, don’t forget that they are someone’s child.” An invitation to kindness that still accompanies her.

Another formula, this time from the director Eric Tolédano slipped in during their first meeting, still infuses her: “If we don’t do it together, it’s going to explode.” So she does it with others. And it works out pretty well for her.
