An empire collapsed on September 16, 2024. That day, Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested in a Manhattan hotel. What initially seemed like just another celebrity morality scandal quickly turned into one of the biggest scandals in show business history.
The rapper and producer has since been indicted for leading a criminal organization involved in sex trafficking and forced labor since 2008.
Blood-curdling accusations
Since his arrest, more than a hundred alleged victims have come forward, some for acts dating back more than twenty years. Lawyer Tony Buzbee even estimates that the final number of complaints could rise to between 100 and 150 cases. The accusations are particularly serious since they include sexual assault on minors and the organization of parties where the victims were drugged without their knowledge and abused.
The end of an era
Despite several attempts to obtain bail, P. Diddy finally gave up and remains incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn awaiting his trial, set for May 5, 2025. If he is found guilty, the man who had revolutionized hip-hop with his label Bad Boy Records and brought out artists like Mary J. Blige and Notorious BIG faces life imprisonment with a minimum sentence of 15 years.
A fall as brutal as it is dizzying for this ultra-powerful figure in the music industry and whose repercussions are still being felt. It is now Jay-Z, the all-powerful musician and founder of Roc Nation, who is accused of having been involved in the rape of a minor in the company of Sean Combs.
