Karima Charni (Star Academy) recounts her difficult years before her return to Star Academy

At the helm of the second part of the evening of the Star Academy, Karima Charni agreed to look back on her perilous beginnings on television and radio, on the microphone of the podcast The Click(s) pour Tele-Leisure.

A destiny all mapped out for Karima Charni! And yet, the co-host of the after-party Star Academy on TF1 had to fight to exist in the French audiovisual landscape, and above all… impose his style after years of doubts and complexes. Less than a month before the grand final of the tele-hook show, which brings together no less than three million viewers every Saturday, the one who was very close to Grégory Lemarchal before his death twenty years ago, agreed to confide in the microphone of the new podcast Télé-Loisirs, Le(s) Déclic(s). How did she experience her sudden notoriety upon leaving the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys? Did she experience a journey through the desert before obtaining her place with Nikos Aliagas? She tells us everything.

Karima Charni (Star Academy) discusses his doubts after years of struggle

In 2004, Karima Charni was spotted in the Capital during a karaoke evening and received a proposal that would change the course of her life. However, the young woman did not plan to become a singer: “When I left the show, I said to myself: ‘I don’t want to be a singer, I want to be Nikos,’ Karima explains to us. She will quickly face her first refusals and first difficulties with producers. “In entertainment, you had to be pretty, you had to be thin, you had to have this little body size 34-36. I compared myself to others. And for me, my points of comparison were blonde, thin and cute.” Karima Charni then begins to doubt… “It’s normal to go through these moments but me too, there are plenty of moments when I said to myself: ‘Maybe this is the end of a lovely dream… These are cycles somewhere.”

“Sometimes you say to yourself, ‘Am I what we’re looking for?’”

Asked about the calmer periods of her career, Karima Charni, on the eve of her 40th birthday, tells us: “Our profession also lies in the hands of broadcasters and producers. So at times, you say to yourself, am I what we’re looking for?“, slips the host. And to add: “In this business, if you don’t question yourself, you can’t last. And then one day, you come across a producer who believes in you and will help you.” In 2002, Karima Charni took charge of the daily newspaper Star Academy, but also the prime after party every Saturday. “Me, when I see that I am back twenty years later on the scene which gave birth to me in the media, I know that this meeting was written, that’s for sure.”
