On the occasion of the sixth edition of the “Mother Christmas is a Love” event, DJ Pedro Winter was the guest of the “Conversations” show. He spoke about his journey and his presence at the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games.
Guest of the show “Conversations”, Pedro Winter, DJ, composer, founder of the Ed Banger label, organized the sixth edition of the event “Mother Christmas is a love”, on December 13 and 14 in Paris. These charitable musical evenings were created for the benefit of Secours Populaire. “Everyone comes to play for free,” explained the former manager of Daft Punk, like DJs Laurent Garnier and Barbara Butch as well as singer-songwriters Juliette Armanet and Fishbach, who were invited this year. The objective: “to finance Christmas meals for the most deprived”.
DJ debut and career
Also looking back on his beginnings, Pedro Winter – real name Pierre – retraced his first evenings at “Folie's Pigalle”, where he invited Daft Punk and Cassius. “I met the entire Parisian electronic scene at the time,” he says. Moments that he describes as “the spark at the start of (his) career”. And where the more extroverted personality that he lets the world see has undoubtedly flourished.
During this show, the DJ also spoke about his presence, with 24 other DJs, at the Stade de France during the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games, on September 8, 2024. “It was a great moment,” says he, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the choice of electronic music: “It is part of French know-how.”
