On the set of BFMTV, Sunday December 22, the deputy and vice-president of the RN considered that the new Prime Minister was not clear in his intentions. He fears a recycling of “all those who liquidated the country” to the new government.
The countdown is now on and the announcement of the new composition of the government cannot be delayed any longer. “Before Christmas”, at least that’s what François Bayrou promised, while in an interview with La Tribune Sundaythis December 22, Marc Fesneau, former Minister of Agriculture, assured that “the structure of the major ministerial centers is fixed” and that “the deadline indicated by François Bayrou and desired by the President of the Republic should be respected”.
In the camp opposite, Sébastien Chenu, who was the guest of BFMTV Sunday morning, did not spare his remarks regarding the Prime Minister and his debut at Matignon. “I think it's pointless. We don't understand anything. Who understands what François Bayrou wants to do?”he said. The vice-president of the National Rally and deputy from the North is worried that the new composition is only a recycling of “all those who made mistakes and liquidated the country”. The appointment of Xavier Bertrand, whose name is circulating, would be perceived as “an arm of honor” to the RN, he notably underlined.
“What we want is action”
“Redistribute the cards to do what?”asks Sébastien Chenu, who would like more clarity on substantive issues, such as the budget and pensions, rather than dwelling on the “distribution of positions”. The former vice-president of the National Assembly also regretted that the consultations between François Bayrou and the parliamentarians did not take place sooner.
However, he affirmed that the RN did not intend to immediately censure the government of François Bayrou after its general policy declaration before Parliament on January 14. “What we want is action. (…) We heard Michel Barnier give us beautiful speeches, we saw Michel Barnier receive us, and then finally, conversely, he constructed a budget in which he picked Frenchmen's pockets”hammered Sébastien Chenu on BFMTVspecifying that he expected “see in action” the new head of government.
