A few days ago, Alexandre Astier revealed the release date of the first part of Kaamelott: Second Part. In a recent interview, he returned to an event that fans of Kaamelott particularly fear.
Kaamelott: Will Arthur die in the sequel?
After twelve very long years of waiting, fans of the series Kaamelott were finally able to discover Kaamelott: First Partwhich launched the trilogy in cinemas in 2021. In addition to offering a welcome reunion with many of the characters, the film also introduced new heroes, the new generation of knights of the Round Table. At the end of the feature film, Arthur has completely accepted his destiny and sets off in earnest in search of the Grailafter having put this sacred quest aside for a long time.
Alexandre Astier quickly announced that the wait for the sequel would not be as long as for the first film, and he kept his promise. Indeed, the Lyon actor and director revealed on his social networks that Kaamelott: Second Part will be released on cinema screens on October 22, 2025therefore becoming one of the most anticipated projects of the coming year. He took the opportunity to publish the first two images from the film. Enough to make us hope for the publication of a first trailer in the coming weeks, there is only one step!
To inaugurate the file of the 25 most anticipated films of 2025 published in the latest issue of the cinema magazine First, Alexandre Astier gave a short interview to our colleagues. In addition to having teased the end of the second part (which will therefore be divided into two parts), he also admitted that he regularly reflects on an event that all fans of Kaamelott fear to see: the death of King Arthur.
I can't tell you [si Arthur meurt]. This is the end of the third part, that. We'll see what state I'll be in and if I'm still alive. But yes, that's what I've been telling myself for a long time… And then I sometimes follow certain elements of the legend.
Indeed, if Alexandre Astier follows the Arthurian legend, then the Breton sovereign will die during a fight against Mordred, the incestuous son he had with his half-sister Morgane. He is then brought by the Lady of the Lake to Avalon. For now, we do not know to what extent the cinematographic trilogy will respect the medieval novels, especially since Mordred has still not been introduced into the saga. However, a sentence spoken by Anna at the end of Book VI seems to indicate that Astier intends to include Mordred in the trilogy. But in what form?
