The 2nd edition of the Young Moroccan Architecture Awards (YMAA) rewarded 19 emerging talents in Moroccan architecture during a ceremony held Thursday evening in Casablanca.
Organized under the aegis of the Ministry of National Territorial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, this event highlighted the innovation and excellence of the young generation of Moroccan architects.
The YMAAs, organized by the Archimedia Group, awarded 16 prizes to exceptional projects and 3 special distinctions, celebrating the creativity of architects under 45 years old. These awards cover varied categories, ranging from residential architecture to interior design to commercial architecture.
The jury for this 2nd edition of the YMAA was chaired by architect Mohamed Fikri Benabdallah.
Fatim Zahra Akalay, Co-founder of the YMAAs and Director of the Archimedia Group, underlined that the YMAAs “offer a platform of expression for young architects, allowing them to make themselves known and contribute to improving the quality of architecture in the world. Morocco “.
According to Akalay, the YMAAs also aim to promote constant improvement in architectural practice.
For his part, Mohamed Fikri Benabdallah welcomed “the good level of creativity and innovation of the projects presented this year”, adding that the YMAAs are part of a context where the practice of architecture in Morocco faces challenges. growing challenges.
Among the winners was Anas Koubaiti, who won both the Zévaco Special Prize and the Building of the Year prize. Three special distinctions were also awarded, including the Public Favorite, awarded to Yassine Benkirane and the Fouad Akalay Prize, awarded to Merouane Oussama Zouaoui, and the Building of the Year prize which went to Anas Koubaiti.
