PODCAST.– When we think of Ophélie Winter, we all think of peroxide blonde hair, Lycra tank tops and God gave me faith. When we think of Prince, we immediately sing Purple Rain et Kiss. But it is less known that the two artists had an affair over several years.

On November 3, 2001, Ophélie Winter was Thierry Ardisson's guest on the set of “Everybody talks about it”. She was then 27 years old and spoke for the first time about her story with Prince. Finally, her “love affair” with Prince… Little known to the general public, this story would have started when the singer of God gave me faith was 17 and not yet famous. Even if, despite her young age, she has already released 2 records – one in 1984, the other in 1987 – which went unnoticed.

More precisely, the meeting between Prince and Ophélie Winter took place in the early 1990s, after a show given by the legendary interpreter of Purple Rain in Bercy. In his autobiography called Resiliencepublished in 2021, Ophélie Winter writes: “It was at his concert in 1992 that I met him. I accompanied a singer friend, Théo Allen, who participated in the first part.

What’s next? It takes place the same evening in a nightclub, where the two singers meet again. Still in her book, Ophélie Winter says that they exchange a few words and as she lights a cigarette, the “prince of pop” asks her to put it out. When suddenly he pulls her by the hand to take her away. Ophélie Winter remembers: “He took me out of the club through a back door, offering to listen to my CD in his car.” After which, Prince invites the young woman to the apartment he rents for the year on avenue Foch, in the 8th arrondissement of . An overheated 1000 square meter apartment covered in thick Hollywood carpet. And that's where their first kiss would have taken place…
