Elton John's vision problems don't seem to be improving. The successful British singer was unable to see the musical “The Devil Wears Prada”, for which he composed the music, due to an eye infection contracted this summer, he revealed.
“I haven't been able to attend many of the presentations because, as you know, I lost my sight,” the 77-year-old singer said at a gala event in London on Sunday evening for the show's premiere. , an adaptation of David Frankel's hit film of the same name, released in 2006. “So it's hard for me to see it, but I like to hear it, and tonight it sounded good,” he added.
In early September, Elton John revealed on Instagram that he had contracted an eye infection in his right eye while on vacation in the south of France, having “left him with limited vision in one eye.” In his post, he specified that he was in the recovery phase, but that the healing process was “extremely slow” and that it would therefore take “some time before the affected eye regains sight. »
In November, he told the American channel ABC that he could no longer see anything in his right eye and that his “left eye was not in the best shape”, adding that his health problems prevented him from work on new musical projects.
The star with multiple hits, from “Rocket Man” to “Tiny Dancer”, closed his farewell international tour in 2023 by performing at the Glastonbury festival, before a final concert in Sweden.
