This Monday, November 25, 2024, Brigitte Macron officially spoke on one of the most important and symbolic trials of recent years on violence against women: the Mazan affair. At the microphone of BFMTVthe First Lady expressed her support for all women facing the vulnerability of women's rights around the world.

According to Brigitte Macron, “this trial was essential. Things had to be said and they are.“, she expressed. As a reminder, a maximum sentence of 20 years was requested against Dominique Pélicotthe ex-husband of Gisèle Pélicot, for his “despicable actions”, but the trial is not yet over.
Emmanuel Macron's wife, also very committed to youth, spoke of the importance of the fight for women's rights: “Of course, unconditional support for all women, I am with them, they know, it's true that we see me more in the field of childhood and adolescence, but I am with the women, (…), in all the fights, and everywhere we go in the world, we see to what extent we have to fight, we have to be there, since rights are increasingly in decline ” she is alarmed.
“We thought we had things taken for granted, but these things that have been taken for granted are being called into question. I want to tell them to what extent the president and I are totally in solidarity with them and that we will help them as much as possible. We must 'we are here, we have to be vigilant and (that's why this) trial was essential.'
The first sentences required
If the trial verdict is expected by December 20, 2024, the first sentences against the 20 of the 51 accused were expressed this Monday evening during the hearing. Sentences of 10 to 13 years were requested for all these defendantsexcept one. This is a certain Joseph C, accused of sexual assault (and not for rape), who is being asked for a 4-year prison sentence.
