A subject that has long been taboo… Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Faustine Bollaert welcomed Claire Fournier, Sophie Davant and Ariane Massenet on the set of Ça commence aujourd’hui, to discuss
accepting one’s age and some of the little inconveniences that come with time. Marc-Olivier Fogiel’s former sidekick thus assured that menopause had not been a subject for her. “I think it’s more the way society looks at us…”she said.
Ariane Massenet then explained: “I don’t feel like an old lady who is coping well with old age! I think it’s the way society looks at us and tells us: ‘Oh dear! We shouldn’t talk about it!’, because if I say ‘menopause’ they’ll start calculating my age. So who cares!”. Very early on, she broached the subject with her friends. “We had ‘menopause dinners’
who were hilarious about all our struggles. We were all depressed, but we laughed a lot”she assured.
Ariane Massenet: “The desire to slap the whole Earth for nothing!”
Considering that the vocabulary of this period is
“terrible” and they did not choose “the most rewarding words!”the 58-year-old journalist listed: “Indeed menopause, there is irritability, a little depression… I approached it in a way, again… Before, I laughed a lot about it, at the time, it’s a little less funny”.
In all transparency, Ariane Massenet shared on the set: “I had a lot of pain, a bit of pain everywhere. Sleep, I was going crazybut I discovered a lot of stuff as a result! Since I wasn’t sleeping, I was interested in other things. That’s a bit complicated! I’m someone who very rarely gets angry, but the urge to slap the whole world for nothing! I was in a foul mood quite regularly…”.
Ariane Massenet: “We have a more mature reflection”

Faustine Bollaert asked him what the advantages of becoming fifty were. He believed that there were
“a lot”Ariane Massenet explained: “We tend to say ‘menopause, fifties, no more children’ (…) Whereas fifties is really, well for me, as if there was a middle life side, it works on my head and in my body too and all that mixed together, It’s a bit of an age of decisions“.
The journalist who worked with Marc-Olivier Fogiel for a long time added: “In the sense: ‘That was great, I know that I don’t want to do that at all anymore, I would like to do that, it’s time to do it because I’m 50 (…) We have a more mature reflection and above all, we tell ourselves that it’s now,
there is an urgency to live“. So, she wants to do a lot of traveling before celebrating her 60th birthday, and hopes in particular to go to Peru.
