It's time to rest for Paola from Belgium. Victim of a fall at the beginning of November, the wife of the former King Albert II, 87, must rest for four weeks. Injured in the foot, she has to give up certain official commitments, notably the traditional King's Day scheduled for November 15 in Brussels. However, other members of the royal family will be present at the Te Deum at the Cathedral of Saints-Michel-et-Gudule such as her husband, aged 90, Princess Astrid, Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire . Everyone will celebrate King Philippe on the occasion of this special day of Saint-Léopold (first name of three of the seven Belgian kings).
As reported by several Belgian journalists, the accident, fortunately not serious, of Paola from Belgium did not require hospitalization. If they specify that the fall took place in one of the couple's residences abroad, the exact location is not indicated. Was it at their vacation home in the south of France? Or in their apartment in Rome? Mystery.
A former queen still active
Despite her retirement, Queen Paola remains active. She regularly attends certain official events such as National Day. The mother of the current sovereign recently attended the high mass celebrated by Pope Francis at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.
Paola from Belgium is not her first health problem. In March 2022, following a fall, she fractured her neck of the humerus and was forced to cancel several commitments. Forced to rest for two months, the queen will this time recover more quickly.
