12 Nov 2024

At a time when societal issues are so strong, at a time of preserving a joyful, creative and rebellious spirit to face tomorrow together: How can we not be disgusted to see our cultural place disappear? Since January 2024, we have been alerting administrations and public authorities about the fate they have in store for our structure in unbearable silence, their disengagement sounds the death knell for the Graffiti Workshop,” announced this structure which offered workshops, courses and training courses. visual arts for children, teenagers and adults

“Without stated reason, our three-year agreement was not renewed. We sincerely regret this lack of investment in a service to the public that works, even though our work has been praised many times. Barring a final political upheaval, we are required to communicate the following to you: it is with a particularly heavy heart that we announce the end of a 32-year-long adventure”

On Friday, November 15 at 8 p.m., the Workshop will indeed close its doors. Last September, the non-profit organization had already alerted by sending preventive notices to its seven employees, for failure to have received its annual subsidy. An administrative error committed by the former Linard cabinet of the Wallonia-Brussels government is believed to be at the origin of the problem but since the establishment of the new one, the situation has still not been resolved. Today, there is not enough money left in the causes to pay staff in December.

This workshop, which moved to Saint-Léonard in 2019, welcomed 1,300 participants each year.
