The most beautiful animal photos on display in Basel

The Natural History Museum in London organizes the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition every year. It is the largest competition of its type in the world. The competition has existed since 1964. Its aim is to address the beauty and diversity as well as the fragility and vulnerability of nature and the creatures with which we share our planet.

To celebrate the 60th edition of the competition, the Basel Natural History Museum, exclusively in Switzerland, is offering you the opportunity to admire the photos from the 2024 edition from November 8 until June 29, 2025. This year, nearly 60 ‘000 photographs were submitted and the exhibition presents the 100 best of them.

The competition features exceptional photographs in terms of composition, style, technical implementation, mood and landscape. In addition to setting new standards in nature photography, the competition is based on the basic idea of conveying the beauty and uniqueness of nature, its landscapes and living creatures, while showing us how we treat them. The exhibition wants to be more than just a platform for beautiful images, it wants to stimulate thinking, point out grievances and lead us humans to question our own perceptions and refine our vision of untouched nature .
