Stone and Charden sang it, but this song could have been written for Michel Drucker. Because the star host of the public service is a pure product Made in Normandie. Born in Vire, he spent his childhood in this region which he adores. “The station area is my childhood and the friends I kept and who are still there. Besides, I think about it every day because the black marble plaque of Doctor Drucker is in my office”he confided to the city website.
“It says: Doctor Drucker, Pulmonologist, Childbirth, the opening hours of the office and it’s the plaque that was on the house on Place de la Gare”described Michel Drucker. A lover of Normandy, it was here that he bought a house with Dany Saval in the 1980s. In Haussez, the couple took advantage of a charming residence with a lush exterior but also a swimming pool for the hot summer months.
A rustic and warm house
With its rustic decoration and its typical architecture of the region, this house was a cozy nest for Michel Drucker and Dany Saval. They spent time in front of the television, obviously, which was in their living room. But also took advantage of the outside of this residence, to read and keep up to date with current events. Here, the lovers spent beautiful years. And this period will not leave the animator's mind.
“I know Forges-les-Eaux and the surrounding area well. I had my very first second home in the 80s in Haussez. I went there often, I liked to walk there, I walked my dog in the forest and I also liked coming to Gournay”remembered the host of Vivement Dimanche in the columns of Actu. At the time, Michel Drucker was already a popular presenter. Television star, it was in this house that he had a good time with his wife. And it’s impossible for him not to travel around the Normandy region by bike.
Michel Drucker knows the region like the back of his hand
“I was recovering from my very busy weeks, and I can tell you that I know all the little roads around, the coasts, the windy places…, he described. I also had friends in the sector, like Jacques Rouland on Songeons.” After several years of happiness in Normandy, Michel Drucker and Dany Saval left the region for the Alpilles. But that doesn't stop the animator from maintaining a strong attachment to his region of birth. And in Vire today, he even gave his name to a performance hall.
“When I come back to the area I go up to Viverot and where the Émile Maupas high school was. I don’t come back there often enough obviously, but each time it’s an important moment for me”he assured nostalgically. “I like to sleep in a hotel in Vire, come the day before to walk the streets, and then I go also in my father's footsteps“, he added.
