exhibition: a major event is coming

Dear residents, from October 19 to November 3, 2024, a major exhibition is coming to Bordeaux, and it’s heavy. Lives of offer carte blanche to the artist Robert Keramsi for one exposition immersive and captivating, breathtaking for the people of Bordeaux. For three weeks, this extraordinary event invites Bordeaux residents and visitors to immerse themselves in a universe where sculptures, paintings, performances, installations et projectionswith humans and the body as central themes. More than 100 works will be exhibited there: bronzes, stone sculptures, inks, large format paintings, and even a real size fresco which promises to leave an impression.

The multifaceted art of Robert Keramsi: a powerful experience

Robert Keramsi, a key artist on the contemporary scene, offers raw art, anchored in material and instinct. His sculptures reject aesthetic conventions to reveal a raw authenticity, sometimes disturbing, but always fascinating. Through his works, whether realistic portraits or from naked bodiesKeramsi creates an intimate connection with the viewer, forcing them to confront their own emotions. Focus on the series “Les Affranchis”: a committed work

Among the flagship works of the exhibition, “The Goodfellas” occupies a special place. This series of portraits painted on used burlap highlights the clients of the PMU of Castillon-la-Bataille, where Keramsi has resided since 2002. These anonymous characters, from the working class, find a voice through Keramsi’s art, which denounces a society dehumanized. His works are both a tribute to these individuals and a social critique, reflecting his commitment to social causes and his desire to give visibility to the invisible.

Performances and events not to be missed

During these three weeks, the exhibition will be punctuated by a series ofevents and of performances. Here are the highlights not to be missed:

  • October 19, 4:30 p.m. : Opening of the exhibition with the show What resists Death.
  • October 23, 6 p.m. : Opening accompanied by an exclusive performance by Robert Keramsi.
  • October 30, 8 p.m. : Dance show
  • November 2, 1pm : Urban banquet followed by the screening of Célie Alix’s film and the show The Tobacco Office.
  • November 2, 6pm : Spectacle Stupida creation by Keramsi in collaboration with Marion Claux and Pierre Thibaut.

These events will be an opportunity to discuss themes dear to the artist, such as human representation and resistance to Company which tends to dehumanize relationships. Of the workshops et debates led by local associations will also allow the reflection initiated by the works on display to be extended.
