A dramatic scene worthy of a Hollywood script, yet it is indeed reality.
Filming on the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in Nashville, on a sunny day with a number of people walking around, that’s where John Bon Jovi rescued a young woman who was hanging over the edge, ready to throw herself off the bridge. The “It’s My Life” singer apparently dropped his lyrics for a moment to save what is most precious: life.
In the bottom left of the surveillance camera recording, broadcast by the police, we see the singer walking calmly, accompanied by a team not far from him. Then, he gradually moves to the edge of the bridge where a woman is clearly perched above the void, looking down.
The singer then fears the worst, and goes straight to talk to the lady. He will find the words to gradually bring the person in distress back to reason. We will never know these words because “out of respect for the person who found himself in a situation of distress and vulnerability”, John Bon Jovi chose to keep his words to himself.
A heroic gesture that was praised by American emergency services.
