He lost $50 million: actor Al Pacino victim of a “large-scale scam”

An accountant who is a priori trustworthy.

Al Pacino is eternal. Today, the actor is 84 years old. And he published his memoirs called Sonny Boy this week. The book of his life in which he notably admits to having been ruined.

It was 2011. At the time, Al Pacino had entrusted his money and interests to an accountant, accustomed to working with clients of his caliber.

But one day, when he returned from a family trip to Europe, he had nothing left. “I had properties, but I had no money”. Nothing left of the 50 million dollars he thought he had in the bank. The fault of this accountant who had absconded with the money: that of Al Pacino but also that of all his other clients, “a large scale scam” which earned him 8 years in prison.

At this point, Al Pacino had to make drastic changes in his approach to his career: asking for lower fees, selling two properties to get back afloat, and taking on roles he would never have accepted before. He even had to give seminars at universities to replenish the coffers. Al Pacino wasn’t broke for very long.
