As the broadcast of the mini-series “Cult” begins this Friday, one name attracts attention: Marie Colomb, whose resemblance to Loana is striking. But, who is this actress who will play the role of France’s most famous reality TV personality?
The mini-series “Cult” traces the creation of the reality TV “Loft Story”, notably highlighting the birth of the Loana phenomenon, the show’s first winner, played by Marie Colomb.
Passionate about cinema since childhood, the actress began her career in 2017 in the feature film “Un, deux, trois” by Mathieu Gari, before getting noticed in films like “Vaurien” or “Les Magnétiques”, for which she won the jury prize and the audience prize for best supporting actress at the Jean Carmet festival. The thriller “As Bestas” by Rodrigo Sorogoyen earned him a Goya nomination for best supporting actress.
At the same time, Marie Colomb has made numerous appearances in short films, such as “J’mange cold” by Romain Laguna or “Les Amoureux” by Pablo Dury, but also clips, notably “A2” by Caballero & JeanJass, “JVTB » by Odezenne or “High” by rapper PLK.
A successful career at just 29 years old
On television, she distinguished herself in 2020 in the mini-series “Laëtitia”, adapted from the novel by Ivan Jablonka, and based on the murder of the young Laëtitia Perrais which occurred in January 2011. Hailed for her performance, the actress was recently featured in the series “OVNI(s)” and “Follow”, directed by Louis Farge, also behind the camera for “Cult”.
However, Marie Colomb always dreamed of “playing roles as strong as that of activist Erin Brockovich [incarnée en 2000 par Julia Roberts, NDLR]», as she confided to our colleagues at Télépro. A goal achieved for the one who will play the famous Loana Petrucciani, the first winner of “Loft Story”.
“Very quickly Marie Colomb was obvious. We had just done the “Follow” series together. I told him about the project. I had the intuition that this role was for her (…) It’s a complicated role, very heavy to bear [mais] she’s an incredible actress,” said the director.
The new Prime Video program will retrace the beginnings and controversies surrounding “Loft Story”, which attracted more than five million viewers in prime time, while becoming a real social phenomenon.
