In Rome, the Italian nobility marries two of its finest couples

On the arm of her father, Prince Francesco Maria Boncompagni Ludovisi, she walks serenely down the flowered aisle of the church of San Salvatore in Lauro, in Rome. Princess Lavinia Boncompagni Ludovisi chose a romantic dress, all in lace, by Luisa Beccaria. The same one who made the wedding dress of Lady Gabriella Windsor, daughter of Prince Michael of Kent. In her blond hair, the precious diamond tiara of her mother, the Marchioness Violante Guerrieri Gonzaga, sparkles delicately. As the young woman prepares, this October 5, to unite her destiny with the chosen one of her heart, Prince Raimondo Alliata de Villafranca, nothing has been left to chance.

The two lovers thus offered themselves the services of the stars’ favorite event organizer, Jean Paul Troili. It was he who already took care of the wedding reception of Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy and Clotilde Courau in September 2003. It must be said that more than 500 guests, including numerous representatives of the Roman nobility, are expected at Palazzo Taverna, the former stronghold of the bride’s maternal family located between Piazza Navona and Castel Sant’Angelo, recalls Vanity Fair Italie. Hand-painted centerpieces, garlands of orange blossoms, generous dishes with Sicilian flavor. Every detail of this intoxicating evening recalls the groom’s original island.

Prince Raimondo indeed belongs to one of the oldest noble families in Sicily, that of the barons and princes of Villafranca, dukes of Salaparuta. His wife, a princess by birth, however, has nothing to envy him. Through her father, she is descended from Pope Gregory XIII, who introduced the Gregorian calendar, and has several sovereign pontiffs in her lineage. Enough to give the union of these two illustrious Italian families the false air of a royal wedding!

The evening never ends. Until six in the morning, guests enjoy the dance floor in the Renaissance lounges of the palazzo. Before everyone leaves home, their hearts full of celebration and their heads full of memories. Now, head to Japan, for their honeymoon, then London where both will finally begin their new life together.
