Finalist in the second season of Star Academy in 2002, Emma Daumas went through a difficult period when she left the castle of Dammarie-les-Lys. “There were some very beautiful things and some much more difficult things to experience. At the age of 18, I went from absolutely anonymous to celebrity overnight”she said before specifying that she had lived eight years of depressive phases.

Emma Daumas: “I had to fall really low to be able to come back”

In complete transparency, the singer explained: “There is this kind of paradox where we are famous, we are known, we are recognized, we take that for love, recognition, but deep down, self-esteem, true self-esteem, it is not through the recognition of the other that we manage to acquire itit’s really about doing things for yourself.”.

Considering that she lived a lot in the eyes of others and that of the media, Emma Daumas indicated: I felt like I always had to fill a voidand it went through these addictions, these outings, these parties, alcohol, etc. Sometimes I got through it and sometimes I fell back and I had to fall really, really low to be able to come back. Self-destruction, she went as far as a toxic relationship in domestic violence”.

Emma Daumas: “It’s the survival instinct that makes us go back up”

Upset when talking about this complicated period of her life, the singer declared: “It’s the first time I’m saying it so I’m a little emotional. It’s an integral part of my story so I have to start owning it. I had to see myself die, and a friend tell me: ‘There, you have to save yourself because otherwise you will die’. When I had this awareness, it was the beginning of the survival instinct which makes us go back up.”.

In order to get better, Emma Daumas then needed to go elsewhere and travel. A year later, it met the man of her lifewith whom she had two children, Valentine, born in February 2013 and Antonin, born in September 2019.
