Michel Blanc and his partner Ramatoulaye Diop: their couple had a special trait

The world of cinema has been mourning the loss of Michel Blanc for nine days, who died at the age of 72, leaving behind a career marked by emblematic roles, including that of Jean-Claude Dusse in The Bronzed. On October 10, his relatives, friends, and admirers gathered at the Saint-Eustache church to pay him a last tribute. Among them was Ramatoulaye Diop, his companion for more than fifteen years.

Michel Blanc and Ramatoulaye Diop: a couple free from routine

Despite their long relationship, Michel Blanc and Ramatoulaye Diop had chosen not to live together full time. As Steven Bellery reported on BFMTV, this choice aimed to preserve their privacy and avoid routine. “They mainly saw each other in the morning and evening”he clarified.

This unique way of living as a couple was for them a way of maintaining a balance between private life and life as a couple. Although this situation may seem unusual to some, it suited the couple perfectly, strengthening their bond. Michel Blanc was completely happy, alone in his apartment located in the Marais district.

A love without children

Michel Blanc and Ramatoulaye Diop shared many years together without ever having children, a thoughtful choice. In an interview given to Match in 2015, Michel Blanc spoke on this subject: I don’t know if I could have put anyone else before myselfhe confided. The latter spoke with disarming sincerity of the difficulty he might have encountered in fully assuming the role of father.

In 2023, the Splendid group member returned to this issue in another interview, saying that having a child had “never presented” in his life. Michel Blanc had however considered the possibility with Ramatoulaye Diop, but he had finally decided too late, mainly due to age difference that he did not want to impose on his child. “I didn’t want people to say, ‘It’s your grandfather who’s picking you up from school’”he confided with humor.

A joyful ceremony for Michel Blanc’s farewell

On the occasion of Michel Blanc’s funeral, Ramatoulaye Diop wanted to celebrate his memory in a special way. As reported The Parisianthe actor’s companion had wanted a joyful, faithful ceremony in the spirit of the deceased.

Several seats had been left empty at the Saint-Eustache church to allow admirers of the actor to pay tribute to him. Among them, a fan caused a sensation by arriving wearing a pair of skis and goggles, in reference to one of Michel Blanc’s most notable roles.
