“The Office” star reveals she is in remission from breast cancer

Jenna Fischer, star of the American version of the series “The Office”, announced that she was recently treated for an aggressive form of breast cancer, which was fortunately detected early.

While October is breast cancer awareness month, actress Jenna Fischer revealed this Tuesday in an Instagram post that she recently suffered from the disease.

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I never thought I would make an announcement like this, but here we are,” the actress said. “Last December, I was diagnosed with stage 1 triple-positive breast cancer. After undergoing surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, I am now cancer-free.”

She also shared a series of photos with the caption: “A big thank you to Angela Kinsey’s husband, Josh Snyder, for taking this photo. This is just one example of the care they gave me during this trip.”

Angela Kinsey, who starred alongside him in the series “The Office,” replied in the comments: “I love you and I’m so happy you shared this. I will always support you.” Ellie Kemper, who also co-starred with her on “The Office,” said: “We love you, Jenna. Thank you for sharing and inspiring us.”

A routine mammogram helped prevent the worst

The cancer was detected during a routine mammogram in October 2023, Jenna Fischer explained. “They found something in my left breast,” and a biopsy clarified the diagnosis.

“Triple positive breast cancer is an aggressive form of breast cancer, but it is also very responsive to treatment,” said Jenna Fischer.

Fortunately detected early, the “cancer did not spread to my lymph nodes or to the rest of my body,” she said.

She explains that she “had a lumpectomy to remove the tumor,” and had to undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy to make sure it didn’t come back.

“I no longer have cancer. I will continue to be treated and monitored to keep it that way,” she added.
