The rest after the ad

The actor Philippe Noiret left us in 2006 and if that had not been the case, on October 1st, he would have celebrated his 94th birthday. The old gun, The scoundrels, Wipe the cloth…the actor who won a Caesar in 1976 and 1990 is a legend. In life, however, he remained very discreet. For more than 30 years, he loved Monique Chaumette, who gave him a daughter, Frédérique – he is also the grandfather of the actress Deborah Grall. And when the actor died, his widow was heartbroken.

It was impossible for her to keep their property in Turcy (in Aude, not far from Castelnaudary). It was a large and welcoming country house, where the couple had gotten into the habit of relaxing. But when Philippe Noiret left, Monique decided to sell their home and auction off the furniture and objects.

There is no financial aspect to his approach. For her, Turcy without Philippe was no longer possible. And in , his apartment is not big enough to accommodate new objects. As for Frédérique Noiret, she is an artist agent and would not have had enough time to enjoy the Montreal house. In fact, their project is based on a notion of sharing, on the idea of pleasing as many people as possible who were attached to the actor“, explained in 2008 Me Rémy Fournié, responsible for the auction at The Dispatch.

Two sales then took place. One concerning objects related to horses: saddles, stirrups, engravings. Another with everything else: lithographs, paintings, antique and modern furniture.

The quiet life of Philippe Noiret in Turcy

Philippe Noiret adored this discovered house without wanting to. “It was the result of a happy coincidence. These little hills of the Malepère, half woods, half fields, it was the landscape I dreamed of. Both gentle and harsh“, declared the actor in Cathar Country Magazine in 1999.”We brought the family, the horses and even the horses of friends. My countryside is synonymous with horseback riding and reading“, he continued.

And the actor was perfectly integrated into this rural setting as the mayor of Montreal – a town near Turcy – revealed to La Dépêche: “When he met a mushroom, asparagus or snail collector in the Malepère, he always stopped to exchange a few words. Here, in the village, no one ever asked him for an autograph, it was necessary to break with his Parisian life, but everyone greeted him. He was very courteous and needed his solitude, we never bothered him and we considered him one of us.
