In a few weeks, Louis Chedid will release his 18th album, entitled Dreamer, dreamer. On Wednesday, September 4, the man with a 50-year career behind him unveiled a new song called I am here. On the occasion of this news, Matthieu Chedid’s father spoke to our colleagues at

And he comes back to a experience with death that deeply marked him. “I hope it happens as late as possible,” he smiles. “But I’m getting cooler and cooler with it. I’m 16 in my head, I’m a real geek, I have a gamer’s computer… And then I had a near-death experience in 1986, because of an amoeba in the liver, and since then I’ve been certain that there is life after.”he says. So, the singer puts this subject in his songs: “I sing it, why should everything be transformed and not women and men?”

At 76, the musician seeks more than ever to make his audience feel emotions. “When I did We never tell the people we love enough that we love them.I found it cheesy, but everyone encouraged me to release it. I no longer have any modesty at all at this level. We are so overwhelmed with negativity, I don’t want to participate in that… I defend the joy of living, I want to solarize people’s lives”he confides, always very optimistic and enthusiastic.

Indeed, this new opus undoubtedly marks the end of his immense five-decade career. “That may be what will happen,” he laughs. “I don’t say so, but I’ve thought about it, it’s true. It could be a final album.” I can’t imagine stopping, I still want to make songs, but if life stops me and this is my last record, I’ll be happy. “That’s a good summary of what I’ve done.”
