Ashley Park revealed to Glamor that “going back to being Mindy” for Emily in Paris helped her heal from a serious health issue last year. The actress was hospitalized last year for “critical septic shock”.
While it’s usually an exhausting time for actors, Ashley Park found the press tour for Emily in Paris “surprisingly calming” after a serious health scare last year.
The actress, who plays Mindy on the series, revealed in January 2024 that she had been hospitalized with “critical septic shock” while on vacation. Shortly after recovering from the serious infection, she flew to the French capital to film the fourth season of Emily in Paris.
During an interview with Glamour, Ashley Park revealed that jumping into filming and hearing positive feedback from people during the press tour in August helped her mentally heal from the traumatic incident .
-“The press tour was also a surprising healing aid. Meeting people who told me I helped them get through a bad day was healing,” she said. “And being Mindy again, slipping into her amazing outfits, helped too.” Some people think that distraction is the opposite of healing, but that’s not the case for me. I learned that everyone heals differently.”
The Only Murders in the Building actress returned to work shortly after her recovery and found herself “frustrated” at not being able to do as much as before. “An important lesson was to not be so hard on myself. I was in a lot of pain after my septic shock and I didn’t know if I would be able to finish my working day,” continues the actress about her difficult recovery. “I had a hard time not letting myself get frustrated. My biggest lesson was not to view doing less as a failure.”
The actress then thanked her colleagues Lily Collins and Paul Forman, adding that they had “saved her in so many ways.” Ashley Park and Paul Forman have been a couple since 2023.
