After being a judge last fall at the competition What talent!in Noovo, Rachid Badouri says he is ready to take on new challenges. The comedian tells us about his comedy Double game and the happiness he had in supporting his daughter Nayla in this beautiful project.

In Double gameRachid Badouri and his accomplice Mehdi Bousaidan bring to life Adam and Mounir, two North African actors who are recruited by Sergeant Rousseau (Josée Deschênes) and her deputy, Qarl (Fabien Cloutier), to become undercover agents. A new job that will put the two friends through completely crazy and incredible situations. “This is a project that Mehdi and I have been working on for at least six years. Initially, we had the idea of making a film, but ultimately we made it into a series. We are very proud of the result and we had a blast shooting it. We certainly hope there will be a second season.”
A BEAUTIFUL SHOWCASE
Rachid Badouri says he is proud to see, for the first time on Quebec television, a series featuring protagonists from Morocco and Algeria. “I hope that this comedy will reach young people from immigrant backgrounds who are abandoning television. I consider it important to offer them a showcase like this, which represents them and in which they can recognize themselves.”
A ROLE FOR HIS DAUGHTER
The comedian is also fortunate to give the reply in Double game to her eldest daughter, Nayla, who just turned 11. “Nayla plays the daughter of my character and his wife, Joanie (Catherine Bérubé), on screen. It was important to me that my daughter auditioned for this role. I didn’t want her to think that she would have put it all in her mouth because it was her father’s project. She was very disciplined on the set. I’ve been inviting him to participate in my videos on social networks for several years. I think Nayla got the bug!” exclaims the proud dad. The comedian and his daughter have also been the faces of Aubainerie advertisements for a year. On the family level, Rachid Badouri experiences great stability alongside his lover, Julie, whom he married in 2011, Nayla and his youngest daughter, Kiana-Brooklyn, aged three. “Everyone is fine. This year, as I will be giving shows in Europe and Morocco, I plan to combine vacation and work by going with my family.

Furthermore, Rachid Badouri works hard to prove himself in humor in the language of Shakespeare. After having had a successful adventure in May 2024 at the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival, which was held in Los Angeles, the comedian will present on March 27, in Montreal, and April 12, in Ottawa, his very first show in English, lasting one hour. “This will be the first time that I will present this show in such large venues. I plan to capture it and then share it on social networks. The goal is to make myself known to a wider English-speaking audience. For now, before returning to the United States, I really want to take the time to develop an effective strategy.”
A NEW SHOW FOR QUEBEC
Nevertheless, the comedian always leaves the door open to new projects in Europe. “Nearly 40% of the people who follow me on social networks come from the global French-speaking world. For now, there are lots of great things coming for me, but I can’t talk about them yet. I’m likely to have a great summer.” In the meantime, Rachid Badouri is continuing to write a fourth show in French, intended for Quebec audiences. “I currently spend six hours a week writing it. I plan to continue working in Quebec all my life,” concludes the artist, who does not impose a timetable.
