His life is punctuated by a single objective: to get back into shape and the physical appearance of a young man of 18 years old. But for this, the American millionaire was forced to sacrifice certain aspects of his daily life such as his love life.
When every aspect of daily life is meticulous, it's difficult to ask a person to share it. The proof with Bryan Johnson. At 47, the Californian multimillionaire has given himself a goal: to regain the appearance and physical shape of his 18-year-old self. To do this, he follows a very specific longevity protocol, set up by a doctor, Dr Olivier Zolman. Waking up at 5:30 a.m. and going to bed at 8:30 p.m., a hundred pills to swallow every day, a draconian diet, light therapy sessions, biofeedback (to boost the nervous system), electromagnetic stimulation, audio therapy, microphones injections of Botox or growth hormones, but also 60 minutes of bodybuilding exercises per day… A very strict schedule which often prevents “genetically modified humans”, such as that he qualifies, to meet people and to have a love life.
But Bryan Johnson knows it, he doesn't have a normal life and even goes so far as to tell those he meets not to approach him. “In general, when I meet and we start to become friends, I give the person the 10 reasons why they would be better off avoiding me,” says the entrepreneur in Don't Die: The man who wanted to be eternalthe documentary dedicated to him, broadcast on Netflix. “I follow a very strict protocol, I am extremely difficult to get along with. And you will end up hating me. A speech that often makes its interlocutor laugh. However, this father is very serious. “That’s what’s going to happen,” he adds. However, he is not ready to change yet.

The perfect family
However, everything started well. At 24, Bryan Johnson married and became the father of three children. Having grown up in the Mormon tradition, he is the perfect husband, father, and entrepreneur in the eyes of his parents. But he admits: “Couple has never been my strong point.” Before his marriage, he never had a girlfriend. “So when I got divorced 13 years later, I didn’t know how to manage a relationship,” he explains in the Netflix documentary. A tragedy for his mother was that her son was having difficulty maintaining a stable relationship: “Bryan is a complicated person, it was even a source of worry for him. He once asked me: “Will I ever find someone who really suits me?” He realized he was unique,” she says.
-Controversies and love story
If Bryan Johnson has difficulty finding someone who suits him because of his lifestyle, he was also marked by his last relationship. “The concept of interpersonal attraction is a little beyond me. And with the first partner I had after my divorce, it ended so badly that we ended up in court,” says the multimillionaire in the Netflix documentary. In 2016, he met Taryn Southern, American influencer and singer, whose life he shared for almost three years. While the couple seems happy, the young woman learns that she suffers from breast cancer and must undergo chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments. This is where Bryan Johnson decides to leave her.
A grand prince, he assures her that he will help her pay her rent and her bills, provided that she signs a separation agreement, reports a complaint, filed with the Superior Court of California, according to People . Because during the three years spent with Bryan Johnson, Taryn Southern became financially dependent on him, not receiving a stable income. Despite everything, she refuses her ex-companion's proposal and sues him, claiming $9 million in damages for “emotional distress” and “financial losses”. She claims the multimillionaire allegedly pushed her to give up her career so she could work with him on creating and growing the company that made him rich, Blueprint.
“Rich people’s problems”
At the time the case is in arbitration, everything is supposed to be confidential. But some media manage to get their hands on the complaint filed with the California prosecutor's office. Bryan Johnson is then overwhelmed on all sides. “I was made to look like a horrible person,” he says in the Netflix documentary. “And when we broke up, she hired one of the most powerful law firms in the world. They sent me a letter asking me to pay them $9 million within the week. Otherwise, they would drag me through the mud.”
Bryan Johnson tries to resist and believes that his reputation has been tarnished by Taryn Southern. “Since then, I've had a lot of trouble getting into a new relationship with a woman, without being suspicious of her potential ulterior motives,” explains Bryan Johnson. “A lot of people say to themselves: “oh sniff sniff, poor darling, you have rich man’s problems”. It's not wrong. However, it remains difficult to live with. Because it prevents me from building relationships and it complicates everything.” Despite this event, Johnson does not despair. Even if his priority remains, above all, his protocol to rejuvenate.
