He experienced things during his adventure Star Academy 2024. Franck lived for three months at the Château de Dammarie-les-Lys and took part in numerous bonuses. And during one of them, he had the nice surprise of seeing his mother come on set. A moment all the more moving, since it had been two years since he had seen her in the flesh. Although he didn’t expect it at all, the show’s stylists believed that he had discovered the deception, as he recounted during his interview for Purepeople.
It was the production that contacted you to participate in the program. Did you hesitate to take the plunge?
I hesitated a little, then I started without really believing it. I figured we’d see where it took me. I hesitated because it was a little uncertain. With this adventure, we don’t know if we’re committing for a week or three months, if a career will emerge afterwards. Participating in Star Ac meant for me not going to school and work for a while. It was a lot of risk for something very abstract.
How did you announce it to your school and your boss?
I went to see my department director. We talked for a long time. We considered different scenarios, from best to worst. In any case, it was planned that I would see him afterwards to sort things out. And regarding my boss it’s linked, given that I was doing work-study training.
During the adventure, you had the nice surprise of seeing your mother speak up with you, during a bonus. Did you expect it?
I wasn’t expecting it at all, the surprise was very successful. The secret was well kept. I think I gave the stylists a cold sweat when I tried on the costume for the table where my mother was supposed to arrive. I said, ‘My mom is going to love this costume.’ They said to me: ‘But what’s your mother like?’ It was just that she loved seeing me in costume. So I thought of it while trying it.
-You dedicated a song to your parents during the semi-final, performing I flyby Michel Sardou. A title that echoes your personal story. How did they experience following your adventure from a distance?
They were proud of me, they supported me. I am grateful to them. This is also one of the reasons why I dedicated this song to them. I know it’s not easy. They were happy.
How did they experience your departure from Congo?
I think they experienced it well. As I said in my text before singing the song, they gave me to the world to a certain extent. My mother often says that a child is like a tree. We plant the seed, we water it. And at one point they push, we let him live his life. It was time to let the tree live its life.
