Faced with this, Marlène Schaff spoke out this Monday, January 20, via her Instagram story, to call for kindness.

During the semi-final, Ebony moved viewers with a strong rendition of do not judge me by Camille Lellouche. This performance, supported by choreography from the troupe Descendants of female fighterscarried a message of self-acceptance. “Before it even started I already wanted to cry“, confided the young woman during the debrief. Marlène Schaff, her stage expression teacher, praised her commitment by declaring: “To exist alongside female fighters, you have to be one yourself.” Ebony, very affected by the criticism she could receive because of her skin color, wanted to address a wider audience: “When you are a black woman, in truth you have to say what is, in society, life is not like others. I hope that little black girls have heard this message and that they don’t listen to the criticism, that they are proud of their skin color, that they are proud of their hair, that they are proud of it where they come from.”

While criticism of the two finalists is increasing on social networks, Marlène Schaff wanted to remind her community and other viewers of the Star Academy the importance of words. This Monday, January 20, she shared in her Instagram story: “I take advantage of having your attention, to remind you allthat being nice does not cost more than being mean. So if you take the time to write a message, remember that there is always the possibility that it will be read. Words have power. Use it wisely. Silence is gold and speech is silver.”
