Jean-Pierre Foucault moved when talking about the assassination of his father

With nearly fifty years of career behind him, Jean-Pierre Foucault is an emblematic figure of French television. If the host is known for always being in a good mood on the air, he experienced a tragedy when he was only 14 years old. His father, Marcel, who was a fruit and vegetable exporter, was shot twice in the back on February 22, 1962 during a trip to Algiers. Saturday January 18, 2025, in 50′ inside, on TF1, the host of the Miss election declared: “No one knows why. He wasn’t in politics, he was simply a trader…”, before blurting out: “How do we get back up? I owe my career to him! I’ll tell you why. I was tired of being told in class: ‘How come your father was murdered?’. So I started to clowning. I started to express myself and it was a sort of professional training for me. People no longer asked me this terrible question, but they said to me: ‘Oh can you make me laugh?’”. Moved to tears, Jean-Pierre Foucault assured that he thought of his father every day, more than sixty years after his disappearance. “I know that he is there and that he guides me,” he said to Isabelle Ithurburu.

Asked what his father would think of his career, the one who has a strong opinion on the new version of Intervilles said: “I think he would be happy. I’ll tell you why. ‘What’ are we going to do with him?’, it’s a sentence (…)
