The film tells the story of June (Cameron Diaz), who thinks she has found the man of her life when she meets Roy (Tom Cruise). But as their relationship progresses, she begins to have doubts about her identity. June suspects Roy of being a spy. It is then that she finds herself hunted with him in a chase to the four corners of the planet. June and Roy have no choice but to trust each other blindly to get through this.

In his films, Tom Cruise makes a point of doing his own stunts. Night and Day was no exception to the rule, although there is a scene where he performs a high-risk stunt by jumping between two buildings. “I looked at the place from which I had to jump from the roof, then at the big metal beam that I had to land on – it was covered with a very small protective mat… I looked at this unfortunate little mat, and this stuntman, Casey O’Neil, said, ‘Even with the mat, it’s going to hurt like hell!’”the actor said at the time. For his part, stunt coordinator Gregg Smrz is no longer really surprised, even if he is still afraid for the actor: “It was typical of Tom to do that: he gives his all to all his stunts. He does them all himself, he never uses a liner. He is very talented, but watching him do all those stunts on this film gave me gray hairs!“
