Change of program. This Thursday, January 16, 2025, Prince William was forced to cancel a royal outing due to weather conditions.
According to magazine information People, The Prince of Wales had indeed planned a visit to the Army Air Corps (AAC) regiment in Wattisham, Suffolk, where he plays an important royal role.
However, bad weather disrupted these plans. Kensington Palace explained in a statement that the weather conditions would have “considerably limited the planned program“.
“The Prince of Wales offers his most sincere apologies to those he was due to meet and hopes to be able to reschedule his visit as soon as possible“, the ad says.
A visit with great fanfare
Kate Middleton’s husband was due to make a grand entrance to Wattisham’s AAC regiment aboard a Wildcat helicopter, a key aircraft for reconnaissance missions. This visit was to be an opportunity for the prince to discuss the Corps’ missions with the armed forces, to meet the teams in training and to discover the installations.
The program also included special moments with soldiers and their families, to discuss experiences within the regiment and address essential topics such as resilience, adaptability, as well as the importance of preserving your mental health and physical well-being.
-Busy schedule for Prince William
This trip would have marked Prince William’s second public outing in the space of two days. On January 15, he went to Birmingham to visit the College of Paramedics and celebrate his new role as patron of the organization. On the way back to London, he also took the time to meet supporters of Aston Villa, his favorite football team, over a beer in a local pub.
As a reminder, the heir to the throne of England became Commander in Chief of the Army Air Corps in May 2024. He inherited this prestigious title from his father, King Charles III. This role also echoes the military past of his brother, Prince Harry, who was trained as a pilot within the same regiment in 2009 and served there during his second mission in Afghanistan between 2012 and 2013.
