Sentenced to five years in prison, including two years for involuntary injuries, the actor and comedian was imprisoned in Bordeaux in December. But an incident reported by RTL would call its security into question.
Would Pierre Palmade be in danger in prison? A prison source detailed to RTL an incident which allegedly took place this week as part of the sentence the actor and comedian is serving in Bordeaux. Monday, January 13, a supervisor that the 56-year-old actor would never have seen before introduced himself to him by opening his cell and introducing himself as a staff representative, reports the radio media. This would have surprised the actor, who “was worried about it” according to the media.
Because the strict rules of his isolation (decided to guarantee his safety due to his celebrity) stipulate that he must always deal with the same agent, and that the doors which connect the rest of the prison must remain closed. However, the gate which separates the isolation sector from the rest of the prison, as well as from another cell, remained open. According to RTL, this situation is prohibited, and Pierre Palmade could have been attacked by another inmate. But no more serious incident reportedly occurred, and the doors were eventually closed again.
Pierre Palmade was imprisoned on December 9. The 56-year-old comedian and actor was sentenced on November 20 to five years of imprisonment, including two years, and had decided not to appeal the conviction. He was placed in an isolation unit at Bordeaux-Gradignan prison, in Gironde. According to information from Le Figaro, these are “dirty and unsanitary places plagued by drug trafficking”. Once incarcerated, Pierre Palmade will be able to request a sentence modification for the two years in prison to which he was sentenced.
This request must then be submitted for the decision of a sentence enforcement judge after an adversarial hearing. His three-year suspended sentence is subject to an obligation of care and work. The actor says he has been abstinent for several months, and has already started psychotherapy since September 2023.
Three seriously injured
The 10 February 2023, Pierre Palmade took the car after three days of using drugs without sleeping. His vehicle hit a car traveling in the opposite lane, in Seine-et-Marne. A 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law answho lost her unborn daughter, were seriously injured following the impact. The actor tested positive for drugs and was tried for involuntary injuries.
Since the accident, Pierre Palmade has suffered a stroke then aHe relapsed in a nightclub in Bordeaux before treating his addiction. He says he has been sober “for 17 months”, and no longer has a job, now living off the royalties from his sketches. During the trial, he considered the idea of continuing to write for others, not considering returning to the stage after his judgment.
