The next edition of the Cannes Film Festival will take place from May 13 to 24.

The Cannes Film Festival has reappointed German Iris Knobloch as president for a second three-year term, the organizers announced on Wednesday January 15. After succeeding Pierre Lescure in 2022, she was re-elected “unanimously” for this new mandate which will run until June 30, 2028, indicated in a press release the French Association of the International Film Festival.
Iris Knobloch, 61, a lawyer by training, spent most of her career at Warner, one of the main American film studios. She directed its activities in France, then in a wider part of Europe, until her arrival in Cannes. “I am proud of the success of the last two editions and I look forward to continuing this commitment alongside our general delegate Thierry Frémaux and our teams for years to come”she said, quoted in the press release.
“I would also like to reaffirm my commitment to making the festival a place of equality and recognition for all, with particular attention paid to women, so that they can highlight their incredible creativity”she added.
The association describes it as “deeply attached to European values and committed to the defense of cinema both in France and internationally” et “recognized for her modern vision, as well as her support for diversity and innovation in the creative industries.
The Cannes Festival has yet to unveil the composition of its jury for its 78th edition, scheduled for May 13 to 24.
