At the helm of Koh Lanta for twenty years, Denis Brogniart has been a landmark for millions of viewers who grew up watching the exploits of Clémence, Claude, Laurent, Teheiura and even Coumba. Many also know him for his passion: sport. He, in fact, regularly comments on sporting competitions and even participates in some of them. When he is not on the small screen, the 57-year-old host devotes all his time to his loved ones, whose anonymity he wishes to preserve. Denis Brogniart confides in this point of discord in his relationship with Hortense
During an interview with Brut during which he recounts his journey and behind the scenes of his most famous show, Denis Brogniart spoke with great transparency about his relationship with religion, he who is the son of very religious parents and who went to mass for a long time. The father of four explains about this important anchor point for him: “I have faith, I believe in something after death. The question, and I ask myself this every day, is why I believe. Is it because I’m afraid of nothingness ?We often talk about it with my wife.”. Respectful of “all religions, as long as we have this capacity to have a mastered faith”the journalist learned to live with the different beliefs of his partner, Hortense. “For me, it’s something that helps me, but it’s the only real point of disagreement I have with my wife. She’s not afraid after all and I would like to be like her”he admits.
Denis Brogniart: this fear that he has developed since the death of his father
Concerned about the passing of time, Denis Brogniart says, thinking particularly of those around him: “I’m a hypochondriac, I’m afraid of dying, afraid that my loved ones will die, I haven’t resolved anything about that and it’s true that it’s a real anguish“. And for good reason… In May 1992, the man who was then only a teenager suddenly lost his father. “My father diedyounger than I am today, from cancer suddenly”recalls the Dijonnais. The latter has since developed “a visceral fear of illness” and would like to help further with research.
