“There is light at the end of the tunnel”
Kate announced in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer, the nature of which has not been revealed, and that she had started chemotherapy. In September, she said with “relief” that she had finished her treatment, in a video filmed with William and their three children. His location of treatment had not previously been revealed.
The princess spent about an hour in the hospital. In particular, she spoke with a patient who had just received her first treatment. When she left, she hugged a woman visiting the hospital. “I’m sorry. I wish I could help more,” said the princess, visibly moved. “There is light at the end of the tunnel. I am very happy to meet you and I wish you good luck,” she added. “You are in good hands.” On Tuesday, Kate became the godmother of the Royal Marsden Hospital, of which William was already the godfather.
King Charles III, aged 76, also announced last year that he was suffering from cancer, for which he continues to be treated.
